Centennial Logo2008 Season

Darryl Starbird's National Rod & Custom Car Hall of Fame Museum

The Hall of Fame Museum opened it doors for the 14th Season on March 5th. The feature car this year will be the "Voodoo Spider" built by Elden Titus. It is a completely hand built all metal car. This car was built from a model that Elden designed and built when he was a teenager with the long time desire to build the real thing, his dream finally realized. Along with the "Voodoo Spider" Darryl will be debuting his latest creation the "Duzeybird"  inspired by the Duzenberg of the early 30s.

This year our Induction Ceremony was held in conjunction with the 44th Annual Darryl Starbird's Exotic Car show in Tulsa, OK. Steve Frisbie of Portland, Oregon and Barry White of Orange, California were the recipients of this years honors. Steve Stanford was inducted into the Designers Hall of Fame and "Speedy" Bill Smith received the Lifetime Achievement award. Mark Moriarity who has displayed many of his award winning vehicles in the museum was made Builder/Owner of the year.

The Hall of Fame Museum is located on the shores of Grand Lake O' the Cherokee (55251 E Highway 85A- just 3/4 mile east of Bernice, OK) and holds over 50 cars all one of a kind, hand built by the icons in the custom world, such as Barris, Bailon, Winfield, Posies, Roth, Hines, and includes 25 of Starbird's own collection built over the past 50 years. It is open Wednesday thru Sunday 11am til 5pm and by appointment on off days. Admission is $7.00 adult - $4.00 child (ages 8 yrs to 12 yrs) and $6.00 seniors (65 yrs).

You owe it to yourself to stroll through the Hall of Fame Museum.

Our out of state tourists often know more about the "must see" items in the area. I can't tell you how many people I have sent to the Museum but I can tell you a good time was had by all! These hand built icons are a one of a kind exhibit and well worth your time.  Just another reason Monkey Island is a special place to stay and play!
