Monkey Island Celebrates Mom!

May 2008

Shop, Wine or Dine ...it's all about MOM!!!!

Have you found that special little something, something for Mom? Planned a lovely meal with Mom and the whole crew? An activity that is one of Mom's favorites? NO???? It's not too late....lots of options on our own special island this weekend.

Is a gift on your list?

What makes your mom happy? Could it be a decadent massage....you can do it! Image Expo has a wonderful new masseuse who comes highly recommended and Island Health and Wellness continues with bodacious massages and more spa pampering treatments. Have Mom smiling and shining from head to toe! When Momma is relaxed and happy....everybody is happy!

Maybe a wee gift item from American Folk Art, Creative Concepts or a new accessories...new outfit from all the new goodies at the Den of Uniquity is more mom's style. Get it? Got it? GOOD!

Is an activity more your mom's style? Golf lessons from the Peninsula could be just the ticket. Or 18 holes with mom and company. Charter a yacht, sailboat, waverunners or pontoon and celebrate Grand Style...Sail Grand can do it to it! Littlefield’s has a cooler with those last minute floral touches that make a heart happy.

Divinely decadent baked goods are always a treat on a weekend morning ....see our happy little baker at Cakes Arisen. Can't beat those "monkey sticks"...Susan's own creation. At that's only one of her many offerings. Sweet treats for the sweetheart in your family....MOM!

How about a relaxed meal with Mom and Company?

For most of us, Mom makes those family meals happen day after day. Sunday is Mom's day so allow me to share a couple of grand options with you.

Anna's Bananas and The Shebang have planned special treats for the lady and company.

Anna's is an all day affair. Starting (9am-11am) with a bountiful breakfast buffet, Chef Harrell plans to keep the festivities going with a brunch (11am- 3pm) which will feature carved beef and turkey, vegetable medleys, salads and fresh home made cakes....Rum butter pecan is my fav...but you chocolate lovers and carrot cake queens will not be disappointed. Of course they are open for dinner....with their expansive menu there is certainly something for everyone!

The Shebang will open for Mother's Day (11am-2pm). The chefs have planned 5 special entrees for the day including a yummy rack of lamb, tilapia encrusted with macadamia nuts, chicken cordon bleu (to mention just a few) and yes you can order of the menu. In addition to the great food an informal style show featuring the fabulously fun togs from the Den of Uniquity. Right up Mom's alley!

We haven't heard from the Roadhouse but you know the number. So if it is one of Mom's fav's call for details.

Of course there is more...........it's Monkey Island isn't it? Island Joe's Kentena is open now. Fri, Sat, Sun 11am to weather permitting and plans their Grand Opening this Saturday. Grand spot for a wee nosh and drink overlooking the lake.

Ozzie’s is still serving those greasy cheesy burgers and more with a casual deck lakeside.

The Quarterdeck is under renovation at Tera Miranda but we will keep you posted

Dining out not for your Mom??? Are you sure???? Well...don't forget Gene's Butcher Shop inside Littlefield’s Country corner for bodacious ribs and beautiful steaks or even those lovely lean burgers on the grill.

Last but most assuredly not least Mark and Kathy Athey have finalized their land deal and Athey Graphics is a go! They are so excited they have planned a family fun pig roast and ground breaking for this Saturday in the Big Shots parking lot with a ground breaking across the street on location.

Mark has a long history in the screening printing industry. Kathy is so proud of the national recognition he has received in his field. Construction will start right away on this eco friendly site and we should see new jobs in the area with it. Come out and Celebrate with the Athey Family as they kick off this brand new enterprise. Free food and lots of fun for all....

Sincerely,
