Skiatook Bluegrass Festival- June 26, 27, & 28, 2008.

 

The 4th annual Skiatook Bluegrass Festival will be held June 26-28 at the Skiatook Sports Complex Park in Skiatook, Ok.- Only a mile or so from beautiful Skiatook Lake. The Festival is put on by the Skiatook Bluegrass Association, a non-profit 501-C3, whose mission is to promote and preserve the roots music known as Bluegrass, a truly American art form. Profits from the festival are dedicated to Bluegrass Music in the Schools.

The Wilders, Newfound Road, The Chapmans, and Cedar Hill are the National headliners. Other regional bands will perform - The Neverly Hillbillies, Spring Street, Bonham Review, The Park Family, Zoo Grass Boys, Klondike 5, and the hot new young teen band, Rockin’ Acoustic Circus. There will be a Youth Fiddle Contest, a band contest, band scramble, various instrumental workshops, Bluegrass Karaoke, lots of parkin’ lot pickin’, food vendors, arts and crafts, and children’s events. Fun for the entire family.

There are over 100 RV hookups and many tent sites in the tree-lined park. Folks are welcome to begin camping Saturday, June 21st. Tickets can be purchased online at www.skiatookbluegrass.com with pay pal. Tickets are $5 for Thursday, $12 for Friday or Saturday , and $20 for both Friday and Saturday. A special online price of $22 for all three days is also available. You can also join the Skiatook Bluegrass Association for only $15 a year, $25 for a family membership. The membership entitles you to a special dinner and concert early in June. (TBA), as well as special seating at the festival. Vendor and volunteer forms can also be found on the website.

Members of the Association, specifically The ZooGrass Boys, are presenting Bluegrass programs in the public schools around the state. The Association also puts on other concerts and events during the year - Fiddles and Viddles in April and The Chili Cookoff in November. These events raise money to promote the festival as well as buying violins for children.
