American Heritage Music Festival June 5-7

To be held at Grove Civic Center & Snider’s Camp

Great entertainment and spectacular competitive talent promises an exciting weekend as Grand Lake Festivals, Inc. hosts the American Heritage Music Festival on June 5, 6, & 7 at the Grove Civic Center and Snider’s Camp. Early-bird all event tickets are available through May 15 at half-price.  Adult tickets are now $10 and students are $5, so order you tickets and mark your calendars for a weekend of great family entertainment.  Tickets and contest registrations are available online at www.grandlakefestivals.com

The activities will begin with a Kick-Off Party, Barbecue, fun contests and entertainment on Thursday evening, June 5 at 6:30 p.m. at Snider’s Camp located 1 mile S and ½ mile E of Honey Creek Bridge on Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees.  Sponsors and volunteers are honored during another great evening of entertainment and delicious food, Friday evening, 6:30 p.m. at the campground.  Admission to the events at Snider’s Camp is free; the food is $7 a plate. The public is invited to bring their lawn chairs and enjoy the fun events and great entertainment.

The Grove Civic Center is the setting for the National Grand Lake Fiddle Contest beginning on Friday, June 6 at 10 a.m. with other contests, such as dobro, banjo, mandolin, flatpicking, a contest of Bob Wills’ fiddle music, and various performances being enjoyed throughout the day.  There will also be several workshops on Friday: clogging by Lou Maiuri, fiddle by Fiddler Hall of Fame’s Dick Barrett, flatpick guitar and hammer dulcimer by the Thomas-DeLancey Trio, spoons and bones by Barry Patton, Shirley Adams, Gary Stout, and mandolin by Jack Gideon.

Saturday morning the Grand Lake National Fiddle Contest continues at 9 a.m. and Grand Lake National Clogging Contest also begin at 9 a.m. on a second stage and will continue throughout the day. Top prize in both the clogging and fiddle competitions is $1000 making this festival one of the most competitive in the nation.

The Saturday night show is a full evening of great entertainment. Jana Jae, Family and Friends, Rockin’ Acoustic Circus, Lou Maiuri & Champion Cloggers, The Monroe Sisters, Prairie Breeze String Band, Bluegrass Friends, and Zoo Grass Boys are among the many talented entertainers on stage throughout the weekend. The pre-show begins at 6:30 with the main show at 7:00 p.m.
