The Grand Lake Association in its monthly meeting of the board of directors, unanimously voted to hire Mr. William Lowe of Tahlequah, to be the new CEO of the 50+year old tourism development agency. Mr. Lowe will begin his duties at the GLA on June 29th.

William Lowe, formerly with Cherokee Heritage Center, currently a member of Leadership Tahlequah Class XII, and chairman of the Tahlequah Area Chamber of Commerce Tourism Council, has had extensive work in developing and promoting the Cherokee Heritage Center in Tahlequah. He was formerly Tour & Travel Specialist at the Cherokee Heritage Center, and is also a Tahlequah MainStreet board member

Mr. Lowe is married, has two daughters, and his Twitter Bio says, "All around awesome Husband and Dad!" You can't have better credentials than that.

Kicking off another Grand Weekend with Grand Lake Live in our area!  Tonite the fun is set for Indian Hills Resort & Marina in nearby Bernice.   Be there from 5-7pm to join the fun and be eligible for those LeAnn Rimes tickets they plan to give away!  Can't make it?  Catch the action on 96.1 FM for all the Good News on Grand Lake....gotta love it! Tonite our own Val Saamer of Monkey Island Trail Rides is on the show and our friends from Oklahoma State Bank too...maybe an opening date for our own Monkey Island location will be announced...tune in for all the good news. It's not too late to plan a round of golf with Dad at the Peninsula (always a grand idea) or plan an evening out, maybe kick back lakeside for a little food and beverage break, catch a live band, hot dance action your thing?? or it's Dad's turn to be a karaoke king......you can do it all this weekend on your own special island.  Why even Elvis plans to make an appearance! Come on out to play.

Whether you are looking for fine food or casual deck dining the Island is setting up for another Grand Weekend. Who has more choices than we do?  Headed to Shebang for those prime buns or luscious steaks?  Maybe you are thinking white linen table cloths and new zealand lamb chops at the Road House...yummo, or perhaps you heard Chef Harrell plans his bodacious prime rib and veal picatta at Anna's Bananas this weekend.  Tell me there aren't some grand choices on our own special island!  That's just for starters.  Stop by the Road Hog by car or Harley Hog for sliders, try the catfish at Donna's cafe, the QuarterDeck at Tera Miranda is boasting a different special every night and boasting about their margaritas, Ozzies BBQ is back with Island Joe's a grillin' away at the tip of the Island!  Want more details....give them a call or check out the Chronicle of Grand Lake, our good news paper!

Island Joe's Kentena has the Geritol 5 Friday  and Triadic Nomads for you Saturday night
Anna's Bananas is showcasing Mike Black Saturday night who will do a regular set , Elvis will enter the building for a set and normally wraps up karaoking with the crowd. Rockin' Armadillo plans the Solace Band Saturday and The Road Hog is showcasing their new outdoor stage and dance floor with Trip Spontain and a Sunday Jam Session with the girls.....Polly Ess and Annie P Annie return to the Island with John Moss Sunday at 3pm. 

Okay so it wasn't all night life we have a Sunday afternoon of delight but that isn't all.  You or Dad can be the Star at the
Balcony Bar (The Shebang) Fri & Sat as Christal the Karaoke Queen will be setting the tunes up for you.  Meanwhile DJ Deeko is across the street spinning your favorite dance tunes at Big Shots Rhythm and Booze!  The Rockin' Armadillo has Laid Back Larry on Friday and our friends at the Road Hog continues to karaoke on Saturday nights...it's the Island Mon so no the fun never sets!

Wii sports...bowling, tennis, golf on the big screen at Anna's Bananas any ole time!  Plus sports playing all the time at Anna's and Island Joe's.   I have to admit those Wii bowlers were having a Grand Ole Time and Frieda was in the lead!!! Way to go girl.

I need your help please!
I have very few sign ups for my June 22-24 Junior Golf Camp at Patricia Island.
It is designated for 13 and over, boys and girls. I am flexible with the age thing.
Please help spread the word.
If you know of any deserving youngsters that don't have the money to come, I will work something out with them or their parent(s).
 
SPEAKING of JUNIORS
I know of 3 that are representing Grove in statewide junior golf tournaments. Tyler Busch, Trae Fairchild and Jo Fairchild, all from Patricia Island. All 3 have placed in recent tournaments. I will try to include updates as the summer progresses. If you know of any other juniors from our area playing in tournaments, please let me know.
 
JUNIOR GOLF CAMPS
Class sizes are limited to 15 students, so be sure and enroll as soon as possible.
June 22-24 - for ages 13 and over @ Patricia Island Golf Club
July 13-15 - for all ages @ Patricia Island Golf Club           
July 27-29 - for all ages @ Grand Cherokee Golf Course, Langley
We emphasize that golf is a game and is meant to be FUN!
We teach the basics of a golf swing and general rules and proper etiquette.  We teach golf terminology and all aspects of how a golf hole is laid out.
We have had to draw the line at age 8 or more. Lunch will be served each day.  Hours are 9 am to 12:30, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Price is $150.
I also have clubs again for Junior Camp attendees at $140 for clubs and bag. ($225 retail value) 3 sizes in age groups.
