Great Holiday, more fun coming!

What a great weekend we just had with all the visitors coming to Grand Lake to enjoy all the activities, the great weather and all the great businesses that provided services to those visitors. We know it is busy when several locations run out of Ice at the same time. Many locations have reported records sales for this Holiday compared to other Memorial Day weekends. This is a great start to what could be a grand summer season.  Even the Gas prices went down!!!

Now on to this weekend and June 5th:

1.      Shriners’ Run for the Children – At 8:00 AM there will be a one mile Fun Run then at 9:00 AM the 5 mile run will start. These will start in Langley at the First Baptist Church and end up in Ketchum by the Medical Center. And Right next door on the lawn of Bank of the Lakes the Grand Lake Chamber will have a Fish Fry to benefit the Chamber’s program of Work. The cost for Runners is $5.00 and others will be $7.00 for adults and $3.00 for Kids. Bring your lawn chairs and watch all the runners come in to the finish line. For information call the Chamber office 918-782-3214! We need volunteers to man Water stations come and cheer the runners on and hand out water to them!!!

2.      Lake Sport Mazio’s Flea Market – On highway 28 just west of the Y there will lots of vendors with neat stuff to see and buy.

3.      Saturday Morning Market – From 9:00 to 1:00 on the grounds of the Artichoke you can find all sorts of things to see and buy and take home and Eat. Things like fresh picked vegetables, Grass fed Beef, Free Range Chicken Eggs, Jewelry, handmade items and a few antiques. Located on the North edge of Langley.

4.      Home of Hope Admirals Recognition Banquet – At 6:00 PM the activities start at Cherokee Yacht Club with Honorary Chairperson Barry Switzer and Master of Ceremonies Governor George Nigh. There will be a great meal and Auctions to pick up some neat stuff including a dinner for 20 on the stage or the historic Coleman Theatre. All funds go to support the care given to the clients of Home of Hope. Call for Information 918-256-7825 ext. 168.

Now if that is not a great day of activities for one and all I cannot imagine what could be more fun for a day around the pond. So get out there and support these events that make Grand Lake the Place to be!!

Next week everyone should stay at the Lake as the Chamber is having a Legislative Breakfast at The new Mulberry Family Restaurant on Wednesday June 9th at 7:00 AM. We will have a forum discussion of State and Federal activities form Representatives of both houses of the state and form the Federal Senate. Make your reservations by calling 918-782-3214.
