"Excitement is
in the air," says founder Jana Jae as the 13th annual American
Heritage Music Festival held in Grove, OK, June 10, 11 & 12 promises to be
the best ever. This year's headliners
include acclaimed Hankerin' 4 Hank, Bonham Revue, Barry "Bones"
Patton, Crossroads, the Pendleton Family Fiddlers, Round-Up Boys, Blue Pearl,
and WhoGrass. Festival favorites
return with Bluegrass Friends, Prairie Breeze String Band, Jana Jae Family and
Friends and many others. See the
schedule of events for where and when all the activities take place.
The contestants
themselves are great entertainers, with musicians, fiddle and clogging
contestants from all over the United States.
There has been great support from the City of Grove and loyal and
dedicated sponsors. Executive Director,
Kathleen Pixley, co-Chairs Brad and Shirley Adams, staff, and many
volunteers have been hard at work to present this major event which attracts
visitors from 30+ states to the Grand Lake area.
Snider�s Camp,
located 1 mile south and � mile east of Honey Creek Bridge, Grove, OK.
will host the activities on Thurs. & Fri. evenings, June 10 & 11 at
6:00. Delicious food and great
entertainment promises a fun evening on the shores of the beautiful Grand Lake
O� the Cherokees. Free admission
(food--$8 a plate). Bring your lawn
chairs and enjoy!
The Grove Civic
Center is the setting for daytime events with the fiddle contests beginning at
9 a.m. on Fri. June 11, followed by other contests such as dobro, banjo,
mandolin, and flatpicking. On Sat.
morning the Grand Lake National Fiddle Contest continues and the Grand Lake
National Clogging Contest begins at 9 a.m. on a second stage and will continue
throughout the day. Two separate areas and stages
allow separation of the fiddling and clogging competitions. Spectators are encouraged to enjoy all area
of entertainment. Top prize in
both events is $1000 with over 80 other cash prizes, making this festival one
of the most competitive in the nation.
Outstanding artists and crafters will have their prize winning works of
art for sell in vendor booths with food vendors serving cuisine to satisfy any
appetite.
Saturday night is a
full evening of great entertainment featuring Hankerin' 4 Hank when Jim Blair brings
Hank Williams to life as he and the band bring the story and hits of Hank
Williams just as they were during the Williams era. Jana Jae, Family and Friends, including Barry
�Bones� Patton, Bette and Daddy Joe Hopper will be featured
throughout the festival along with many talented groups and entertainers. The Grand Finale on Saturday night will also
feature fiddle contest finalists. Rounding out the evening�s
entertainment is Lou Maiuri, Flatfoot Champion and Coordinator of the
Grand Lake National Clogging Competition.
Maiuri will introduce the 2010 Championship Cloggers as they wow the
audience with their dancing talent. You
don�t want to miss this outstanding event bringing the 2010 American
Heritage Music Festival to a close.
